3-DAY Agile for EVM Professionals Workshop
This course is designed for the Earned Value Management (EVM) professional who wants to learn how to apply Agile development techniques on large complex projects that have EVM requirements. Integrating EVM with Scrum, allows for a lean and adaptive development approach while maintaining EIA-748 compliance and satisfying the need to effectively measure, forecast, and ultimately improve project performance. This approach is especially helpful for large complex programs, like Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, because its focus is iterative, highly interactive incremental releases of measurable working product.
The workshop focuses on agile teams and provides real world application of the roles, artifacts and events that are used in Scrum. Attendees are encouraged to use a product from their own portfolio or use the provided drone product example. Students will walk through the project lifecycle from developing a product vision, product roadmap, product backlog, IMP, IMS, and time-phased budget, to measuring performance, reporting and analyzing Agile metrics.
The three-day workshop encourages participants to discuss real-world application of the learned concepts and provides dedicated time to answer questions and provide in depth examples drawn from real experiences. Complex topics are covered such as tailoring Agile to EVMS hierarchy, and the implication of story, feature and epic changes on the performance measurement baseline and forecast.
Topics covered include:
- Agile Mindset, Agile Manifesto and Agile Principles
- Single-Piece Flow
- Scrum Roles, Events, Artifacts, and Techniques
- Agile for HW & SW Teams
- Scrum Team Execution
- Product Vision, Product Roadmap, and Release Planning
- Decompose Epics and Features into User Stories
- Sizing Stories, Features, Epics and Programs
- Software Program Management Process in Agile Environments
- Scaling Agile
- Agile Metrics
- Analyzing Project Performance & Sprint Results for Agile-EVM Integration
- Planning, Scheduling, and Budgeting with EVM and Agile
- Estimates, Indices and Forecasts
- Achieving a Firm Baseline and Still Be Agile
- Implementing Agile in the EVM Environment
Learn Agile/Scrum basics and explore Agile-EVM touch points. Discuss approaches to integrating Agile performance data with the EVM system and discover how Agile/Scrum methodologies can bring increased value and visibility to your program in an upcoming Agile for EVM Professionals course!
2-Day Agile for EVM Professionals Workshop
This course is designed for the Earned Value Management (EVM) professional who wants to learn how to apply Agile development techniques on large complex projects that have EVM requirements. Integrating EVM with Scrum, allows for a lean and adaptive development approach while maintaining EIA-748 compliance and satisfying the need to effectively measure, forecast, and ultimately improve project performance. This approach is especially helpful for large complex programs, like Department of Defense (DoD) contracts, because its focus is iterative, highly interactive incremental releases of measurable working product. This workshop is a streamlined and fast paced version of the 3-day workshop designed to cover core material in a shorter time-box.
The workshop focuses on agile teams and provides real world application of the roles, artifacts and events that are used in Scrum. A drone product example is used to walk through the project lifecycle from developing a product vision, product roadmap, product backlog, IMP, IMS, and time-phased budget, to measuring performance, reporting and analyzing Agile metrics. Complex topics are covered such as tailoring Agile to EVMS hierarchy, and when to incorporate baseline change and forecast updates when stories, features, and epics change in the Agile development cycle.
Topics covered include:
- Agile Mindset, Agile Manifesto and Agile Principles
- Scrum Roles, Events, Artifacts, and Techniques
- Scrum Team Execution
- Product Vision, Product Roadmap, and Release Planning
- Decompose Epics and Features into User Stories
- Sizing Stories, Features, Epics and Programs
- Scaling Agile
- Agile Metrics
- Analyzing Project Performance & Sprint Results for Agile-EVM Integration
- Planning, Scheduling, and Budgeting with EVM and Agile
- Implementing Agile in the EVM Environment
Discuss and learn about the latest approaches to successfully implementing Agile project management techniques on traditional EVM programs in this 2-day Agile-EVM Integration course.
